The Positive Alternatives (+Alt) Summer Projects are YC Hertfordshire projects for young people who may be at risk of becoming involved in gangs and violent crime. The projects run every day for two weeks during the school summer holidays at the Bancroft Young People’s Centre in Hitchin. Activities including music-making and sports take place each day. Come and learn how to keep yourself safe and make positive choices for your future.

The YC Hertfordshire Positive Alternatives (+Alt) Summer Projects at the Bancroft Young People’s Centre in Hitchin are designed to raise awareness about the risks and realities of gang-related crime. They are run by YC Hertfordshire Youth Workers along with expert sports and music tutors.

There are also dynamic and interactive workshop sessions focusing on:

  •  identity and belonging
  •  gang culture
  •  stereotypes and gender
  •  responsibilities
  •  county lines
  •  knife crime and reducing use of weapons

There will also be discussions on healthy relationships, sexual health, drugs and alcohol, social media and Citizen Aid.

Bancroft Young People’s Centre is fully wheelchair accessible.
