Creative Spark Music and Media Project for Young People with Learning Disabilities at the Harpenden Young People’s Centre

Entertain MeLearning & CareersAdvice & Information

Creative Spark is a project for young people with additional learning needs. Run by YC Hertfordshire, the project enables young people to build communication skills, resilience and independent living skills through a variety of activities.

At the Creative Spark Music and Media Project at the Harpenden Young People’s Centre you can get involved with sessions which focus on healthy relationships, sexual health, resilience, independent living skills and coping with tough situations.

We use our state of the art training kitchen to teach cooking skills and offer the ‘Move It’ programme, which is about getting young people with learning difficulties involved with physical exercise.

As well as this we have opportunities to work towards sectional certificates of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

There are currently two projects running every Monday evening:

  • 4.30-6.30pm for young people aged 13-17
  • 7.30-9.30pm for young people aged 18-24

The Harpenden Young People’s Centre is fully wheelchair accessible.
